Criticism of The Solar Guild does not require membership, payment, ideological agreement, or a title. Anyone may identify a public claim, process, safeguard, or decision that should be challenged or improved.
Continuing responsibility is different from permission to criticize. Anyone may declare interest in a bounded Accountability Steward assignment, but an application grants no title, authority, confidential access, platform permission, control over an outcome, or right to represent The Solar Guild.
This distinction keeps entry open without pretending that unrestricted access or undefined authority is accountability. Responsibility must be written, limited, reviewable, and reversible.

Two paths with different consequences
Active work| Path | Who may use it | What it does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Submit a challenge | Anyone | Places a public claim, process, safeguard, or decision into the current review intake | Does not require an account, appoint the sender, prove the claim, or promise a particular disposition |
| Declare Steward interest | Anyone willing to enter the disclosed application and review process | Places a person into the existing human-reviewed Opening process for possible bounded responsibility | Does not create a title, governance power, confidential access, representation, or a guaranteed assignment |
What a real Steward assignment must specify
Active work- One bounded claim, process, decision record, or safeguard to inspect
- The assignment term, evidence standard, relevant uncertainty, and stopping condition
- What information may be accessed and what remains outside scope
- The response owner and which decisions that person may actually make
- Whether the resulting record is private, summarized, or public
- Conflicts of interest, required disclosure, and a recusal rule
- Why the assignee's relevant contribution, capability, reliability, and conduct justify the specific authority granted
- Conduct, privacy, removal, handoff, and exit conditions
Minimum review discipline
Active work- Separate direct observation from inference, recommendation, and unresolved uncertainty.
- Use the narrowest claim that the available evidence can support.
- Disclose relationships, incentives, prior commitments, and other conflicts that could reasonably affect the review.
- Invite a response from the person responsible for the challenged public work when feasible.
- Preserve disagreement rather than manufacturing consensus.
- State whether the challenge was accepted, partly accepted, rejected, deferred for evidence, or left unresolved—and why.
- Correct connected public claims when one material correction changes their basis.
Privacy and conduct boundaries
Active workThe public route is not a secure channel for allegations, credentials, employer records, medical information, personal data, or vulnerabilities. A submitter should share only the minimum public or non-identifying information needed to explain the challenge.
Open criticism does not excuse harassment, threats, doxxing, spam, impersonation, retaliation, or misuse of access. These boundaries constrain conduct; they do not require agreement with The Solar Guild.
What this release does not prove
Proposed- It does not establish independent governance merely because a form and Opening exist.
- It does not prove that challenges will be resolved correctly, promptly, or to the submitter's satisfaction.
- It does not establish an external appeals body, member-controlled board, public ombuds function, or independently funded auditor.
- It does not create legal representation, whistleblower protection, confidentiality, or immunity from outside consequences.
- It does not show that The Solar Guild can remain accountable after scale, funding pressure, leadership change, or institutional conflict.
