An Objective is a specific desired result with a named beneficiary and a clear end condition. The Objective Brief states who is responsible, who contributes, the terms of the work, how the result will be reviewed, what response is required, and what record each contributor may keep.

Contents (5 sections)

Before work begins

Proposed
  • State the concrete need, desired result, beneficiary, Objective Owner, and what completion means.
  • State time, tools, assistance, access, ownership, confidentiality, and compensation or exchange.
  • Name the reviewer and the limits of the review.
  • Use a reviewer with relevant experience and disclose material conflicts of interest.
  • State how AI or other assistance must be disclosed.
  • State what the requester or beneficiary must answer after the work.
  • State what the contributor may keep, correct, withdraw, or share.

After work ends

Proposed
  • Preserve the result or a safe description of it.
  • Preserve the review, including limits and material disagreement.
  • Keep the reviewer's judgment about the specific work separate from the requester's Result Response.
  • Record whether the result was accepted, used, changed, declined, or left unresolved.
  • Deliver every promised payment or exchange and complete every promised response.
  • Give the contributor an accurate work record and an honest next move.

Public-purpose Objective agreement and completion receipt

Proposed

The public-purpose Objective agreement and completion receipt is a reusable, static Markdown artifact. Before work begins, it records the need, parties, terms, acceptance criteria, intended public-purpose value, and stopping conditions. After work ends, it records the delivered result, review, contributor return, reusable capacity, residual and reinvestment destination, corrections, and closure.

Why this is not a person score

Active work

One Objective can show what happened in one setting. It cannot prove every ability a person has or predict every future setting. A trustworthy work record keeps the scope, conditions, reviewer, disagreement, and limits attached.

The first proof needed

Open question
  • Will an organization bring, support, and complete one Objective with an identified beneficiary and acceptance criteria?
  • Will the contributor receive at least as much value as they contribute?
  • Can reviewers apply criteria with enough consistency to support the stated decision?
  • Will the beneficiary provide an honest response on time?
  • Will anyone outside the Objective understand or use the work record?
