Learning activity, evidence of one contribution, a reviewer judgment, a credential, and an independent standard are different things. Combining them into one badge would create false certainty.

The current platform can support bounded Quests, Objectives, artifacts, and human review. The Solar Guild has not yet demonstrated that an external employer will rely on a record, that a review is valid across settings, or that Solar Standard Institute yet operates with demonstrated independence.

Paths organize learning; they do not certify a person

Active work

A Path organizes repeated practice around a defined capability; it does not certify a whole person. In the Weaver Path, a participant maps a working system, diagnoses one bounded problem, tests a responsible improvement, records the result, receives human feedback, and leaves a usable handoff.

The path is designed to make systems-integration practice accessible without requiring an expensive formal program. A first bounded practicum exists; the complete training system remains under development. It is not accredited, does not replace a degree or license, and does not guarantee employment or professional recognition.

Complement existing professional and hiring services; do not replace them

Active work

Long term, The Solar Guild hopes to become a useful, authorized complement to LinkedIn—not a replacement for it. Today, there is no LinkedIn integration, verification, endorsement, or partnership.

The Solar Guild will not operate a general-purpose professional network, credential marketplace, or job-matching platform. Its narrower role is to preserve a participant-directed record of one bounded SGUILD contribution: what was submitted, what a named reviewer concluded under stated criteria, any correction, and the limits of those conclusions. This is not a LinkedIn credential, an OpenAI certification, an employment recommendation, or a prediction of job fitness.

A participant may choose to link to or manually describe that record on a professional profile or hiring service. No integration, badge, endorsement, affiliation, or partnership exists with LinkedIn, Microsoft, OpenAI, or any other platform.

Any future official integration must be separately authorized by that platform, participant-initiated, optional, and usable without making SGUILD dependent on the platform. The Solar Guild will not scrape or automate a professional platform, import or reconstruct its graph, combine unofficial platform data with API data, or use platform data or AI output to rank candidates or determine employment eligibility.

Nonparticipation, missing evidence, withdrawal, or a decision not to share remains unknown—not an adverse signal. Employer-facing furnishing or assessment remains blocked until employment, privacy, discrimination, consent, correction, deletion, appeal, and adverse-use safeguards receive independent review and are operating.

  • Keep each record scoped to one contribution and one stated review; do not turn it into a credential, universal profile, hidden score, or prediction.
  • Let the participant choose whether and where to link or describe the record, subject to confidentiality, record integrity, and applicable law.
  • Require correction, appeal, export, deletion, and clear provenance before calling any record portable.
  • Prefer user-controlled links and exports over platform lock-in.
  • Describe integrations, badges, and affiliations only after they exist and only within their authorized scope.

Learning cannot disguise unpaid commercial work

Active work
  • A Quest should be designed primarily for learning and remain easy to leave.
  • Work that creates commercial value, replaces paid labor, or would ordinarily be purchased should default to a funded Objective with explicit compensation.
  • A participant should know ownership, confidentiality, assistance, reviewer, acceptance criteria, and record rights before beginning.
  • No future opportunity may be presented as guaranteed compensation.

What Solar Standard Institute must demonstrate before claiming independence

Active work
  • A defined construct and scope: exactly what is being assessed and what remains outside the claim.
  • Published criteria, reliability and validity evidence, bias and accessibility analysis, and known limitations.
  • Competent reviewers, conflict controls, correction and appeal, versioning, surveillance, and revalidation.
  • Governance and funding that cannot be controlled by The Solar Guild, one employer, one donor, or the platform operator.
  • A public record of adverse use, material errors, and changes to the standard.
